Health Ministry’s senior management meeting decides to draft short, mid and long-term reform plans

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to prepare detailed short, mid, and long-term plans to reform the health sector in line with public expectations.

The decision was made during the first meeting of the senior management team held under the chairpersonship of Minister for Health and Population Dr. Sudha Sharma.

According to the ministry, all departments, divisions, and centers under its jurisdiction have been directed to prepare action plans within their respective areas. These plans will be categorized as short-term (to be completed within 30 days), mid-term (to begin within 60 days), and long-term (expected to have lasting impact).

The action plans must be submitted to the ministry by November 28, while the Policy, Planning and Monitoring Division will compile and present an integrated report by November 29.

The meeting also decided to make the public procurement process and medicine registration more transparent. Concerned authorities have been instructed to carry out their duties responsibly and address public complaints promptly.

Additionally, the ministry decided to deploy small teams across all seven provinces to assess the ongoing protests related to the salaries and benefits of nursing staff, categorize Gen-Z injury cases, evaluate Gen-Z clinic operations, and facilitate psychosocial counseling services.
