KATHMANDU: Over 111,000 people left the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
Since Ghatasthapana, a total of 467,000 people have left the Valley as of Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Bijay Bahadur Swar, President of the Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation, said that traffic congestion on major roads has caused difficulties for travelers trying to reach their destinations.
He estimated that approximately 800,000 people have left the Valley since Ghatasthapana and added that the Federation has requested the Traffic Police to help ensure the smooth operation of transport services.
In response, the Traffic Police stated that they have deployed additional personnel as needed to manage the increased flow of travelers and facilitate safe, efficient travel during the festive season.
