NC Chair Dahal urges unity and timely elections to uphold Constitution

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has urged all Nepalis to channel their hopes, frustrations, and aspirations into building a prosperous and advanced nation grounded in national unity.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami, Chairman Dahal emphasized the importance of timely elections in the wake of the Gen-Z movement. He called for unity among political parties to safeguard the constitution under the leadership of elected representatives.

“I urge everyone to celebrate Dashain joyfully—as a time for family gatherings, harmonious exchanges, and the strengthening of socio-cultural ties—while avoiding wasteful spending, harmful practices, and distortions carried out in the name of tradition,” he stated.

Dahal expressed hope that Bada Dashain would reinforce family bonds, social harmony, and cultural unity. His message also highlighted the need to preserve the humane and positive values embedded in traditional festivals while discarding outdated superstitions and aligning practices with the changing times.

He concluded by affirming that it is the collective responsibility of all citizens to protect the achievements won through the long struggle and sacrifices of the Nepali people, to institutionalize the federal democratic republic, and to meet the public’s expectations.
