RSP and RPP to boycott PM Oli’s address in HoR

KATHMANDU: Two opposition parties, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), have announced they will boycott Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s address to the House of Representatives scheduled for Friday.

Prime Minister Oli is set to speak in parliament this afternoon before departing on an official visit to China.

The two opposition parties have been protesting, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a high-level investigation committee over the “visit visa” scandal.

“Our protest continues and will remain ongoing. We will not listen to the Prime Minister’s address today,” RSP spokesperson Manish Jha said.

RPP vice-chair Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan also confirmed that his party would boycott the session, reiterating their demand for accountability.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to leave for China on Saturday at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. Following his visit to China, Oli will travel to India.
