Govt to raise customs duties on alcohol, beer, and tobacco products



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to increase customs duties on alcohol, beer, cigarettes, and tobacco products.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced during the presentation of the budget for fiscal year 2025/26 that amendments will be made to the Value Added Tax and Excise Duty laws to implement these changes.

Ahead of the budget announcement, shortages of alcohol, beer, cigarettes, and tobacco products have been reported in the market. With the new policy, prices of these items are also expected to rise.
