Government allocates Rs 740 Million to promote digital literacy and artificial intelligence



KATHMANDU:  Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has announced a budget allocation of Rs 740 million for promoting digital literacy and encouraging the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.

Presenting the federal budget in a joint session of Parliament on Thursday, Minister Poudel stated that AI promotion would be a key focus area. He also mentioned that the use of social media would be regulated to ensure responsible digital engagement.

A total of Rs 7.76 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The minister also announced plans to establish an Information Technology Park in Kathmandu and expand 4G services nationwide, along with launching 5G in major cities.
