Narayangadh-Butwal Road: Night Traffic Suspension in Daunne Extended Until May 14

NAWALPARASI: The suspension of night traffic on the Narayangadh-Butwal road in the Daunne area will continue until May 14 due to ongoing road expansion work.

Previously, traffic had been halted between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM until April 28, and this schedule will remain in place.

Bhawishwar Pandey, Chief District Officer of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta), explained that the construction work in the Daunne area requires a few more days, and traffic will be suspended every day from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM until the end of the month.

“The road work has been expedited by halting vehicle operations at night to facilitate necessary maintenance and construction activities in the Daunne section,” he said.

“We’ve decided to extend the suspension to complete the wall cutting work in this section before the monsoon rains arrive.”

Engineer Shiva Khanal, Information Officer for the Eastern Section, stated that ongoing work includes hill cutting, wall construction, and culvert building in the Daunne section.

Out of the 114 kilometers of the Narayangadh-Butwal road from Gaindakot to Daunne, which includes a service lane in the market area considered high-risk, road expansion to three lanes is currently being carried out over a 14-kilometer stretch of the Daunne section.

The project, awarded to the China State Engineering Corporation at a cost of NPR 17 billion, has already seen three deadline extensions. The latest extension is until July 24, 2025, as the work was not completed on time.
