Rain and thunderstorms expected today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of western and local winds, along with moisture-laden air entering from the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, the weather is partly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while other regions remain mostly clear.

Light rain has been observed at isolated locations in the Terai region of Koshi Province.

This afternoon, hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies, it said.

The rest of the country will see mainly clear to partly cloudy weather, according to the Division.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at several locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at isolated spots elsewhere.

There is also a chance of light rain and snowfall in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, it added.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in the mountainous regions of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies expected in other areas.

Light rain with thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
