Sudurpaschim Minister Laxman Kishor Chaudhary resigns amid corruption allegations



KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Province’s Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment, Laxman Kishor Chaudhary, has resigned following the leak of an audio recording allegedly exposing financial dealings with timber traders.

Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah had instructed Chaudhary to step down after the audio of a conversation from a meeting in October surfaced, revealing discussions about financial transactions.

Chaudhary, who was in Tikapur, Kailali, was summoned to Dhangadhi and warned of dismissal if he did not resign. Dambar Bam, the Chief Minister’s press and public relations advisor, confirmed Chaudhary’s resignation.
