KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala on Saturday, condemning the death of Avenues Television cameraman Suresh Rajak, who was killed in a fire set during the violent protest by royalist supporters in Tinkune, Kathmandu.

Rajak’s charred body was discovered inside a building that had been torched by protesters. Before setting the structure ablaze, royalists had pelted it with stones and shattered its windows, reportedly suspecting the presence of police officers inside.

FNJ leaders and journalists at the protest demanded swift action against those responsible for Rajak’s death and stronger protections for media personnel covering protests and conflict situations.

Rajak was among the many casualties of the violent royalist demonstration, which left two dead and dozens injured, including security personnel and civilians.
