Health Minister presents health insurance reform action plan to Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel has submitted an action plan for health insurance reform to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The plan, prepared under the leadership of Additional Secretary Dr Dipendra Raman Singh, outlines key changes aimed at expanding and improving the country’s health insurance system.

According to the Health Minister’s secretariat, the government will decide on the proposed reforms through a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

One of the key recommendations in the report is to increase the health insurance coverage to Rs 500,000 per individual, a proposal that Paudel has been advocating.

If approved by the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Health and Population is set to initiate the process of amending the Health Insurance Act in the upcoming parliamentary session.
