Mid-West University clinches Jai Nepal Cup with 58-run win over Lucknow



 

KATHMANDU: Mid-West University emerged victorious in the Jai Nepal Cup Cricket Tournament, defeating Lucknow University by 58 runs in the final match held on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 176 runs, Lucknow struggled to build momentum and was restricted to 117 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Manan Kandpal was the lone standout for Lucknow, scoring 58 runs off 57 balls, while the rest of the batting lineup faltered.

Mid-West’s Diwan Pun starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs. Bipin Khatri delivered an economical spell, conceding just 10 runs in 4 overs, though he remained wicketless.

Earlier, batting first, Mid-West posted 175 runs for 6 wickets.

In the individual awards, Bipin Karki was named the Player of the Tournament and also claimed the Best Bowler title.

Lokesh Bam was awarded Best Batter for his outstanding performances throughout the competition.
