KAHTMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that all preparations have been completed for political parties to submit their closed lists under the proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives election, 2082 BS.

According to the schedule made public by the Election Commission, political parties must submit their closed lists for the PR system today and tomorrow, Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said. He said the closed lists submitted between December 28 and 29 will be examined from December 30, 2025 to January 4, 2026.

Following the examination, parties will be asked to make necessary corrections or reconciliation from January 5 to 11, 2026. The Commission will then re-examine the lists from January 12 to 17, 2026 to verify whether they meet legal requirements. The closed lists will be published on January 18, while the final list is scheduled to be made public on February 3, 2026, Bhattarai added.

A total of 100 political parties have registered to participate in the proportional representation election, using 93 election symbols. Only those parties registered for the PR election are eligible to submit their candidate lists during the designated period.
