HoR election: 18.9 million voters eligible to cast ballots



KATHMANDU: A total of 18,903,689 voters will be eligible to cast their ballots in the election of members of the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5, 2026, according to the final voter list published by the Election Commission (EC).

As per the final list, there are 9,663,358 male voters, 9,240,131 female voters, and 200 voters registered under the “other” category. The Election Commission has also made the final voter list available on its official website, allowing voters to verify their details.

Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the final voter list was published on Saturday in accordance with Section 20 of the Voter List Act, 2073. He added that the list has been updated to include citizens who will complete 18 years of age by March 4, 2026.

In comparison, the 2022 BS elections for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly had 17,988,570 voters, including 9,140,806 males, 8,847,579 females, and 185 others. The number of voters has increased by 915,119 in 2082 BS, with male voters rising by 522,552, female voters by 392,552, and voters in the “other” category by 15.

For the upcoming election, the Election Commission has designated 23,112 polling stations across 10,967 polling centers nationwide. This includes 75 more polling centers than in the 2022 elections, while the total number of polling stations has increased by 885.
