KATHMANDU: The cold continues to intensify across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Valley dropped to 7.0 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Friday). On Thursday, the minimum temperature had been recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius.
The Division noted that the official minimum temperature will be updated at 8:45 am. By that time, the minimum may fall further or remain unchanged.
Meteorologists explain that if the sky remains cloudy overnight, morning temperatures tend to be slightly higher. In contrast, clear skies throughout the night cause minimum temperatures to drop.
The Division measures the minimum and maximum temperatures of Kathmandu and other locations nationwide every day. The lowest temperature recorded in a 24-hour cycle is considered the day’s minimum, while the highest is recorded as the maximum. The minimum is measured at 8:45 am, and the maximum at 5:45 pm.
