KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has proposed a six-point roadmap to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
At the core of his proposal is the restoration of the unconstitutionally dissolved House of Representatives, which he has identified as the first and foremost step toward political stability.
Former Prime Minister Oli has also called for an immediate amendment to the Constitution by the restored House to allow a person who is not a member of Parliament to be appointed Prime Minister for the purpose of leading an electoral government.
He further proposed the formation of an all-party government with the participation of representatives from the Gen Z movement to ensure inclusivity and national consensus.
Emphasizing the need for a time-bound political process, Oli stated that elections could be held on March 5, 2026 under the leadership of such an all-party government. He has also made it clear that, even if he is removed from office amid the Gen Z movement, he will not seek the post of Prime Minister again in order to avoid further political discord.
Concluding his roadmap, Oli urged political parties to reach a prior agreement on implementing these measures, asserting that doing so would help align the constitution and democratic process with the spirit of national unity and reform.
