Two held for alleged involvement in beating policemen during Gen-Z protest



KATHMANDU: Two youths, identified as Alish Shrestha, 22, and Saurabh Tamang, 27, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the vandalism of a police office and the assault on a policeman during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 9.

Shrestha, originally from Golanjor rural municipality-1 in Sindhuli, is a temporary resident of Sukedhara, Kathmandu, while Tamang, from Uttargaya rural municipality-4 in Rasuwa, resides in Manamaiju, Kathmandu.

The Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, and Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki confirmed the arrests of the two on charges related to the incident.

They are accused of assaulting Policeman Uttam Thapa of the Police Circle, Maharajgunj, and carrying out vandalism and arson targeting the Circle. Further investigation into the case is underway.

It may be noted that during the attacks on the Circle, Policeman Thapa and Assistant Inspector Milan Raya lost their lives.
