Two arrested with wildlife parts



KATHMANDU: Two young men were arrested in Gokarneshwar with items resembling bear bile, suspected to be illegally obtained wildlife products, Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) announced on Tuesday.

Ramesh Bahadur Shahi, 25, and Krishna Bahadur Shahi, 28, both from Khalichakra Municipality–6, Kalikot, were apprehended with two items resembling bear bile while attempting to transport them.

The arrests were made after CIB received intelligence that the duo was involved in the illegal trade of protected wildlife parts. Based on the tip-off, the police team acted swiftly and arrested the suspects while they were traveling in Gokarneshwar.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Division Forest Office in Hattisar for further legal proceedings, as confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Shrestha of the CIB.
