19 injured in bus accident in Jhapa



JHAPA: Nineteen passengers were injured this morning when a bus lost control and fell about 10 meters off the East-West Highway near Maidhar Chowk in Shivasatakshi Municipality-10, Jhapa.

The bus (Pra 1-01-001K 4209), traveling from Manthali to Kakarbhitta, was carrying 25 passengers at the time of the accident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, 19 injured passengers were rushed to Birtamod’s Birta City Hospital for immediate treatment, while the remaining six passengers reached their destinations safely.

The condition of the injured ranges from normal to moderate, and all are receiving treatment. Police stated that initial investigations suggest the bus overturned due to uncontrolled speed. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
