KATHMANDU: Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has appointed senior journalist Ajaya Bhadra Khanal as her chief advisor.
Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel said the Cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to appoint Khanal to the post.
Similarly, Govinda Narayan Timalsina has been appointed as the Prime Minister’s public relations advisor.
With this decision, Prime Minister Karki, who assumed office following the Gen-Z protests, has now appointed advisors in addition to her eight-member Cabinet.
Khanal has more than 25 years of experience in journalism. He is the former director of the Ukaalo campaign, and has served as editor of Ukaalo.com and English daily The Himalayan Times.
He is currently a research advisor at the Center for Social Innovation and Foreign Policy (CESI). For the past two years, he has also been involved in research on corruption, impunity, good governance, and national security.
