Dharan Mayor Sampang registers ‘Shram Sanskriti Party,’ files application with Election Commission



KATHMANDU: Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Raj Sampang has filed an application with the Election Commission to register a new political party.

According to his aides, Sampang has applied to register the party under the name ‘Shram Sanskriti Party.’ On Sunday, he confirmed that he has formally submitted documents to register the ‘Rastriya Shram Sanskriti Party.’

However, Sampang has not disclosed details about the party’s policies or leadership team.

Earlier, his attempt to be included in the Sushila Karki-led interim government had failed, after which he returned to Dharan.

Since then, Sampang has consistently taken aim at Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah through social media.

In the 2079 local elections, Sampang was elected mayor of Dharan as an independent candidate with the walking stick (Lauro) as his election symbol.
