KATHMANDU: The Nepal ‘A’ cricket team, led by Anil Kumar Sah, will take on Assam in Guwahati today in the first of a five-match T20 series.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the 16-member squad, which includes a mix of young prospects and experienced players. Among them are all-rounder Aadil Alam, batsman Sundeep Jora, and youth standout Yuvraj Khatri, who impressed in the U-19 side. Current U-19 captain Bipin Sharma, however, did not make the squad.
Aadil Alam, recently recalled to the national setup following the lifting of his suspension, has been given a chance to prove himself through the ‘A’ team. Similarly, opener Pawan Sarraf, returning from injury, has also been included.
Captain Sah, 26, has already represented Nepal in 14 T20 internationals and 17 ODIs. He was not part of the recent national team tour to Australia but has now been handed leadership responsibilities for the ‘A’ side. Former captain of the Nepal ‘A’ team, Binod Bhandari, is not in the squad this time.
CAN said the India tour is designed to provide Nepal’s emerging cricketers with international exposure and competitive experience, serving as a platform for players to push for selection in the senior national team.
Nepal ‘A’ will face Assam in five T20 matches, beginning with today’s opener at 11 am. The remaining fixtures are scheduled for August 29, 30, 31 and September 1.
