BAGLUNG: A 23-foot-tall statue of Siddhabaraha has been erected in the heart of Gajadaha, Baglung—a site recognized by the government as one of Nepal’s 100 tourist destinations.
The full-length statue, sculpted by Krishna Bahadur Sunar in just four months, was built at a cost of Rs 2 million.
Ward Chairman Krishna Bahadur Bhujel said the statue was installed to promote Gajadaha—located in Jaimini Municipality-3 at an altitude of 2,500 meters—as a religious and tourist hub, and to highlight the significance of Siddhabaraha.
The statue represents the Baraha avatar, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Alongside the statue, additional infrastructure development is underway, including lake conservation efforts and the construction of a Siddhabaraha temple, all carried out under the leadership of Jaimini Municipality and local residents.
Funds for the statue were raised during a Gyan Mahayagya held in Gajadaha. Spanning 24 square kilometers, the area is gradually establishing itself as a major destination for religious tourism.
