Rainfall hits Kathmandu and parts of western Nepal



KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall is likely today in one or two areas of the Tarai region in Lumbini Province, as well as in the hilly regions of Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces. Meanwhile, Kathmandu has been experiencing moderate rainfall since last night.

Moderate rainfall is also expected in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and in a few other parts of the country, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The weather will generally be cloudy in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, while partly cloudy skies are expected in the rest of the country.

Tonight, cloudy conditions will prevail nationwide, with moderate rainfall expected in many hilly areas. Heavy rain is forecast in one or two locations within the hilly areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in the hilly parts of Lumbini and Koshi Provinces.

The Division noted that the monsoon’s low-pressure trough remains near its usual position, increasing the influence of monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal.
