One member of Hayu family contacts police

KATHMANDU: One member of the 16-member Hayu family who were reported missing from Sindhuli, has contacted police.

According to the District Police Office (DPO) Sindhuli, Sujata Hayu, the middle daughter of the family, is now in contact with authorities.

Police say she had been living in Kathmandu with her husband for a long time and was not residing with the rest of the family at the time of their disappearance.

“Sujata Hayu has come into contact with us. She informed us that she has been living in Kathmandu for a while and is not in contact with the rest of her family members. She has requested help in locating them,” said DSP Surya Prakash Subedi, spokesperson for DPO Sindhuli.

Earlier on Monday, Golanjor Rural Municipality had published the names of 16 family members who were reported missing since Friday. The mass disappearance had sparked widespread concern and a police investigation is currently underway.
