Heavy rain likely in hilly regions; public urged to stay alert



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, with the monsoon’s low-pressure line situated near its average position.

According to the Division, the weather remains generally cloudy across Nepal. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in several areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in one or two locations in Lumbini Province.

This afternoon, the country is expected to remain mostly cloudy. There is a likelihood of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly areas, particularly in Gandaki, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few Terai regions.

Heavy rainfall is also possible in one or two locations in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly areas, including Gandaki Province, and in parts of the Terai. One or two locations may experience heavy rain.

The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts, as there is a risk of moderate to heavy rainfall in various parts of the country.
