Access to Drinking Water Improves in Dawa Bazaar, Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: Residents of Dawa Bazaar in Bhojpur Municipality-4 are now breathing a sigh of relief following the successful implementation of the Dawa Bazaar Drinking Water Project.

The project, led by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, has provided household taps to 50 homes under the “One House, One Tap” initiative.

Addressing a longstanding water shortage in the area, the project has significantly improved daily life for locals. Kamal Pradhan, Chairperson of the Construction Consumers Committee, confirmed that the project has solved the community’s water issues by distributing clean water directly to homes.

“The project is now operational, and 50 households are receiving water through taps. The water problem in this area is over,” said Pradhan.

Asutosh Thakur, Chief of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office in Bhojpur, stated that the project was completed at a cost of approximately Rs. 6 million. The system includes a 4-kilometer main line and a 4.5-kilometer distribution network.

“We have conducted on-site monitoring, and the water supply is now fully operational. This project has resolved the years-long water crisis in the area,” he said. Thakur also added that similar drinking water projects are underway in various parts of the district.

Local resident Laxmi Bhandari shared how the project has transformed her daily routine. “We used to spend hours fetching water, often queuing from midnight at distant taps and wells,” she said.

“Now, with taps installed in every household, the generational water problem has finally been solved. Cleanliness and daily chores have also become much easier.”

The completion of the Dawa Bazaar Drinking Water Project marks a significant step forward in ensuring basic infrastructure and improving the quality of life for communities in remote areas of Bhojpur.
