Curfew in Tinkune extended until Saturday morning

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration has extended the curfew in the Tinkune, Koteshwor, and Sinamangal areas following Friday’s violent protests by royalist agitators. The curfew, initially imposed from 4:25 pm to 10 pm on Friday, will now remain in effect until 7 am on Saturday, as per a notification issued by the administration.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer (CDO) Rishi Ram Tiwari stated that all public gatherings, processions, demonstrations, and encirclement activities have been strictly prohibited in the curfew-imposed areas.

To control the situation, the Nepali Army has been deployed in Tinkune with armored vehicles. The government has also authorized security forces to open fire on individuals involved in arson and vandalism.

The extension of the curfew comes after intense clashes between security forces and royalist protestors, which resulted in multiple casualties, damage to private and public property, and the burning of buildings and vehicles.
