Royalist leaders fail to control crowd and flee as Tinkune protest turns violent

KATHMANDU: Key leaders of the royalist movement, including Durga Prasai, Nawaraj Subedi, Dhawal Shamsher, and RPP Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra, have fled the protest site after clashes erupted between protesters and police in Tinkune on Friday.

As the demonstration escalated into anarchy, protesters set fire to a house in Tinkune, attacked media offices, and vandalized properties. The situation worsened despite the police firing rounds in the air to regain control.

The leaders, who had led the protest, left the venue in a vehicle, leaving their supporters on the streets amid rising tensions. Security forces are struggling to contain the unrest.
