KATHMANDU: An agreement has been reached for Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli to address Parliament on March 31 to resolve the ongoing obstruction.
The agreement came after discussions between the chief whips of the main opposition, opposition parties, and the ruling party, including Speaker Devraj Ghimire, on Friday.
On Monday, the Council of Ministers had dismissed Kulman Ghising from his position as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Following the dismissal, opposition parties obstructed Parliament, demanding a satisfactory response from Prime Minister Oli regarding the issue.
While the government had proposed that the concerned minister and Deputy Prime Minister respond on behalf of the government, opposition parties insisted that only the Prime Minister should address the matter.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula confirmed that it was agreed the Prime Minister would respond in the House of Representatives on March 31, and that Sunday’s meeting would proceed smoothly.
