KATHMANDU: The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Lumbini Province has urged the government to establish a base for narrow-body airlines at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

The association believes that the airport’s sustainability will be enhanced if narrow-body aircraft operate flights to China, Buddhist countries and Gulf countries, which serve as labor destinations.

This demand was made following a workshop held in Butwal, where a press release was issued jointly by NATTA Lumbini’s President Chandra Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Sita Basyal.

In addition to this, NATTA has called for at least one aircraft from all domestic airlines to be stationed at the airport and for daily inter-provincial flights to be introduced for a fixed period.

The organization has also advocated for a passenger-friendly policy, including concessions for bus and hotel services for international air travelers.

The workshop, which saw the participation of 50 travel entrepreneurs, also set out a list of tourism programs planned throughout the year.
