Three mainstream parties’ top leaders express commitment to participate in HoR election



KATHMANDU: The top leaders of the major three political parties, Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML) and Nepali Communist Party, have assured their participation in the forthcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki held at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar today, the top leaders pledged their parties’ commitment to the polls slated for March 21, 2026, the PM’s Secretariat said.

Emerging from the meeting, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said, “All political parties are ready to take part in the poll. NC is also ready. UML is also ready. Other parties are also ready. The government should ensure a secure environment.”

UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ also expressed their commitment to the polls, the PM’s Secretariat stated.

During the meeting, PM Karki urged the major political parties to make the poll a success adding that the upcoming election is to be held in a unique context.
