Power supply to be disrupted in some areas of Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced scheduled power cuts in several parts of Kathmandu today as part of ongoing infrastructure improvement works.

According to a notice issued by the NEA, electricity supply will be interrupted from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in areas served by the Panipokhari feeder and the hospital feeder.

The power outage will affect locations including Lazimpat, Panipokhari, Maharajgunj, and the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital area. In addition, electricity supply will be disrupted in areas surrounding the President’s Office, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, and the Nepal Police Hospital, as confirmed by the NEA’s Maharajgunj Distribution Center.

The NEA stated that the outage is necessary to facilitate underground cable connection work under the Kathmandu Valley Central and North Distribution System Strengthening Project, which aims to improve the reliability and safety of the electricity distribution system.

The NEA has informed consumers that power supply will be restored earlier than scheduled if the work is completed ahead of time and has requested cooperation from the public during the temporary disruption.
