Tension erupts at KIST Hospital after pregnant woman’s death; police fire tear gas to control crowd

LALITPUR: Tension flared at KIST Hospital in Lalitpur on Sunday after relatives of a woman who died during treatment accused doctors of negligence.

According to police, angry relatives vandalized parts of the hospital premises after breaking through the security cordon. The situation turned chaotic as police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, which had also pelted stones and bricks at security personnel.

The incident followed the death of a pregnant woman at the hospital on Saturday. Her family members have alleged that she lost her life due to medical negligence and claimed that the hospital administration has yet to initiate any dialogue with them.

Police have since tightened security around the hospital premises, while efforts are underway to calm tensions and facilitate talks between the victim’s family and hospital officials.
