KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on India today in the tri-nation international friendly women’s football tournament being held in Shillong, India.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:15 PM (local time) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. Both teams will be looking to secure a win to end the tournament on a high note.
Having lost their opening matches against Iran, today’s fixture will be a battle for pride for both Nepal and India. Iran, with six points from two wins, has already clinched the championship title.
In their earlier matches, Nepal suffered a 3–0 defeat to Iran, while India went down 2–0. The tri-nation friendlies are being played as part of the FIFA international window.
According to the latest FIFA rankings, India is ranked 63rd, followed by Iran at 70th and Nepal at 89th.
Following this tournament, Nepal and India will play another friendly match on October 30.
