Van accident in Baitadi leaves 10 injured



BAITADI: An “electronic van” met with an accident in Bhanjyang, Surnaya Rural Municipality-7, along the Jay Prithvi Highway, leaving 10 people injured.

According to Police Inspector Bal Dev Badu of the District Police Office, the van (license plate number  SU PA PRA 02 001 JA 620) was traveling from Dhangadhi to Puchaundihat when the accident occurred this afternoon.

All the injured are residents of Puchaundi Municipality in Baitadi. Inspector Badu identified them as: 15-year-old Bhuvan Saud (Puchaundi-5), 28-year-old Yashoda Bhatt, 5-year-old Kovit Pant, 28-year-old Pavitra Pant, 19-year-old Kamala Dhanuk (Puchaundi-4), 22-year-old Prakash Dhanuk, 5-year-old Naresh Bohara, 28-year-old Basanti Awasthi, 17-year-old Bikram Saud, and 22-year-old Savitri Dhami.

The injured have been taken to Dadeldhura Hospital for treatment. Among the 18 passengers, eight sustained minor injuries, while the others were more seriously hurt. The van fell approximately 50 meters off the road. The District Police Office has stated that further investigation into the accident is ongoing.
