NEPSE up by 53 points as daily turnover nears Rs 8 billion



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a sharp rise on Wednesday, with the benchmark index climbing 53.01 points compared to the previous day. The index closed at 2,819.10 points.

Alongside the index gain, transaction volume also rose significantly. Compared to Tuesday’s Rs 4.18 billion, Wednesday’s turnover reached Rs 7.68 billion.

Out of the listed companies, share prices of 232 firms increased while only 19 declined. All sectoral indices posted gains, with development banks recording the highest rise at 3.40 percent.

Other sector-wise increases included: banking (1.38 percent), finance (1.98 percent), hotels and tourism (1.66 percent), hydropower (1.85 percent), investment (2.19 percent), life insurance (2.21 percent), manufacturing and processing (2.69 percent), microfinance (1.09 percent), non-life insurance (1.68 percent), others (2.14 percent), and trading (2.68 percent).
