KATHMANDU: The Mahendranagar depot office of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has seen three chief transfers in the past year, raising concerns about management stability.
In the last 12 months, Manoj Kumar Sah, Manish Nyaupane, and most recently Rajit Kapadi have served as office chiefs. Kapadi has been leading the depot for the past two months.
According to NOC’s regulations, depot chiefs and officer-level staff are to be transferred every two years. However, employees say frequent and untimely transfers are disrupting smooth operations and management at the office.
Depot Chief Kapadi acknowledged the provision, stating: “Transfers are normally done every two years, but if necessary, they can happen anytime. Wherever we are posted, we must continue our duties.” He added that since taking charge, his focus has been on improving efficiency and management at the office.
Employees and stakeholders claim that disputes among petroleum transporters, fuel dealers, and staff have often triggered sudden transfers of depot chiefs.
The Mahendranagar depot distributes petroleum products to Dhanusha and Mahottari districts, transporting fuel from NOC’s Amlekhgunj depot. Currently, about 80 tankers transport fuel to the region, with transportation costs covered by the corporation, Kapadi said.
