RAUTAHAT: A video confession by Laxman Paswan, the main accused in the murder of Ruby Kumari Sah, whose body was found packed in a suitcase, has gone viral.
The 9-minute, 36-second video, recorded in Hindi, shows Paswan in a secluded location speaking to the camera before killing Ruby. The case took a new turn after this video was released, following an earlier viral selfie he took before setting himself on fire.
In the video, Paswan admits to the murder but claims Ruby’s mother is guilty of creating the circumstances that led to it. Paswan was rescued by police on Wednesday from a field in Madhav Narayan Municipality-6, Rautahat, where he was found with severe burns.
According to police, he set himself on fire after killing Ruby and stuffing her body into a suitcase.
Ruby, a resident of Madhav Narayan Municipality-2, Rautahat, had been staying at her mother’s house in the district headquarters of Gaur following a dispute with Paswan. Her body was discovered in a suitcase on Sunday.
During the investigation, police identified her husband, Laxman Paswan, as the prime suspect. In his video message, Paswan claims the incident was ultimately caused by Ruby’s mother and alleges that three men, Rajan, Raju, and Raja, were involved in driving a wedge between them.
While the video does not reveal the specific method of the murder, Paswan states that he and Ruby had a love marriage after a long relationship that began when they were in 10th grade. He said they registered their marriage in courts in Sarlahi, Nepal, and Sitamarhi, India, but faced intense disapproval from both families, leading to severe tension.
Paswan makes serious allegations in the video, claiming Ruby’s mother, motivated by greed, forced her daughter into physical relationships with the three named men. He also alleges Ruby was blackmailed with a video recorded without her consent.
He further claimed that after Ruby’s family married her off to another man, Shivsagar Sah from Muzaffarpur, India, the couple made a pact to die together. After a night of discussion, Paswan killed Ruby and then attempted to take his own life by self-immolation.
Despite his severe injuries, Laxman Paswan survived and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Garuda. In the video, he stated he wished to die to avoid jail and be with Ruby, but he now faces the very murder charges he sought to evade. He also pleaded for the release of a rickshaw driver who was arrested in connection with the case.
