Teachers’ federation stages sit-in at Nepali Congress office

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Teachers’ Federation staged a sit-in protest at the Nepali Congress central office in Sanepa on Wednesday as part of the first phase of its protest program.

According to the federation, the demonstration began at 11 am. The teachers also submitted a memorandum of demands to draw the party’s attention.

The federation has announced plans to continue its series of protests at major political party offices. It will stage a sit-in at the CPN-UML central office in Chyasal on August 28 and at the CPN-Maoist Centre’s headquarters in Paris Danda on August 29.

The teachers’ union said the protests are aimed at pressuring political parties to address long-standing concerns related to the education sector.
