Cholera outbreak: Birgunj Metropolis extends school closure by three more days

BIRGUNJ: In response to the ongoing cholera outbreak, Birgunj Metropolitan City has decided to extend the closure of all schools for an additional three days, from August 27 to 29.

Ananda Lamichhane, Chief of the Education Division at the metropolis, said the decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Mayor.

All schools will suspend teaching and learning activities during this period to help contain the spread of the disease.

The local government has also urged teachers and school staff to form teams and engage in community outreach to raise public awareness about cholera prevention. Schools had previously been closed for Sunday and Monday.
