One person dies in house fire in Gulmi



GULMI: One person has died in a fire that broke out in Dhurkot Amrai, Ward No. 5 of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, Gulmi district.

According to Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Adhikari of the District Police Office Gulmi, the fire occurred around 3:00 a.m. last night, claiming the life of Juna B.K., daughter of local resident Manidevi B.K.

The victim, who was reportedly mentally unstable, died on the spot when the fire engulfed their one-story stone-and-clay house with a tin roof.

Three other family members — Manidevi B.K. and her grandsons, 12-year-old Shreedhar B.K. and 11-year-old Arun B.K. — were in the house at the time but managed to escape safely, police said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A police team from Dhurkot Bastu was deployed after receiving the report of the incident at 5:45 a.m. The fire was brought under control by 6:30 a.m. with the assistance of local residents.

Further investigation is underway, and a team led by Police Inspector Rewant Sen has been dispatched to the site from the Area Police Office in Purkotdaha.
