KATHMANDU: Chair of the Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has claimed that a well-orchestrated conspiracy is being carried out to weaken the party and its leadership. He called on all leaders, cadres, and supporters to unite and resist the campaign.
Addressing the fifth session of the Gulmi-Kathmandu Contact Forum, Prachanda said, “Once again, an attempt is being made to corner and dismantle the party. Some comrades have been confused by this. Reactionary forces are spreading disinformation by promoting and even investing in certain individuals to destabilize the movement.”
He asserted that during the time the Maoist Centre-led government was gaining popularity through pro-people programs, brokers, middlemen, mafias, and elements within the bureaucracy conspired to oust it from power.
“We were working toward good governance, social justice, economic prosperity, and a non-aligned foreign policy. Public trust in the party was growing, and Nepal’s international image was improving. That’s why we were removed,” he said.
According to Prachanda, the conspiracy continues even after the party left government, with the Maoist Centre facing coordinated efforts to silence its calls for reform.
“Even after leaving government, we didn’t remain quiet. We kept raising our voice for good governance and justice. That’s why the same forces are now targeting the party and its leadership,” he added.
Referring to national-level projects such as the Postal Highway and the Mid-Hill Highway, which he said involved direct dialogue with 15 million people, Prachanda argued that such initiatives helped build mass support for the Maoist Centre and triggered renewed opposition from traditional power centers.
Looking ahead, he said the party is preparing to contest future elections independently. “We won when we fought alone,” he said. “We are planning to rise on our own and win again in 2027. Alliances with Congress and UML have only created public disappointment.”
Prachanda also urged party members to stay alert and proactive in countering what he described as an “organized encirclement” aimed at undermining the leadership and the party’s future.
