Gandaki Province Assembly passes budget for fiscal year 2025/26

POKHARA: The Gandaki Province Assembly has passed the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 by a majority vote.

The budget was approved on Friday following deliberations on allocations under various headings. Ministers and Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey had earlier responded to questions raised by Provincial Assembly members during discussions.

Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Pandey said the budget was allocated based on priority areas. He explained that Kaski and Gorkha districts received larger allocations — Kaski being the provincial capital and a major tourism hub, and Gorkha requiring funds for the completion of ongoing projects.

Pandey also acknowledged budget constraints, stating that projects under Rs 500,000 were not included due to financial obligations from previous years. He emphasized the need to end the practice of selecting projects without securing adequate resources.

The total proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 is Rs 31 billion.
