Storms, heavy rain likely across hilly and terai regions



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather alert for today, warning of widespread rain and possible windstorms in various parts of the country.

Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in several hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. A few areas in other provinces may also experience similar conditions.

Likewise, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Light to moderate rain or snowfall is also expected at a few places in the high hills and mountainous regions across all provinces.

In addition, windstorms are likely at a few locations in the Terai and Madhes regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few locations in the remaining provinces tonight.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast at one or two locations in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the Division.

Light to moderate rain or snowfall is also expected at a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and at one or two places in similar regions of the other provinces.

The Division has urged the public to remain alert, especially in areas prone to landslides, flooding, and strong winds.
