HoR meeting adjourned for half an hour

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) was adjourned for half an hour on Tuesday following protests by opposition parties demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Speaking at the start of the meeting, Maoist Center MP Barshaman Pun said the Home Minister’s secretariat was linked to the visit visa scandal and called for Lekhak to step aside to allow for an impartial investigation.

“We are not saying he is guilty from the outset,” Pun said, “But the Home Minister must clear the way for a fair probe. The meeting cannot proceed otherwise.”

Likewise, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Shishir Khanal echoed similar sentiments, stating that parliament could not function until the Home Minister stepped down.
