Rajendra Bajgain hits back at Shashank Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Rajendra Bajgain has raised sharp questions against party leader Shashank Koirala, demanding clarification over alleged lavish gifts he received, including luxury vehicles, gold Rolex watches, cash, and house renovations.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Bajgain posted a status accompanied by photos asking Koirala these questions.

“I had hoped I wouldn’t have to ask about SUV gifts (one Kia, two Mahindras), gold Rolex watches, bags full of cash, so-called house ‘renovations’, or political favors,” Bajgain wrote on X, sarcastically adding, “Of course, you will be asked for a clarification.”

The dispute comes amid growing calls both inside and outside the Nepali Congress for Home Minister Lekhak to resign over alleged irregularities involving visit visas. Koirala had defended Lekhak publicly and instead called for disciplinary action against those within the party demanding his resignation.

The internal friction within the Nepali Congress party appears to be deepening as accusations and counter-accusations surface, highlighting ongoing tensions over ethical standards and political accountability.
