NC expresses outrage in Parliament over Rajendra Lingden’s statement

KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed strong dissatisfaction in the House of Representatives over comments made by Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden.

The Nepali Congress has demanded a formal response regarding Lingden’s statement in the previous parliamentary session, where he alleged that the son of Nepali Congress joint General Secretary was caught and released by police after stealing alcohol from Bhatbhateni supermarket on March 28.

Speaking during Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire questioned which Nepali Congress leader’s son Lingden was referring to.

Ghimire insisted that Lingden either provide evidence to support his claim or have his statement expunged from the parliamentary record.

In his remarks during Friday’s session, Lingden had claimed that Nepali Congress joint General Secretary’s son was involved in the theft incident but had not named anyone.

Following his comments, media reports emerged suggesting that the son of Joint General Secretary Mahendra Kumar Yadav was implicated.

However, Yadav clarified that both his sons—Akash and Bikash—are doctors and have denied any involvement, stating they are currently focused on their studies.
