TANAHUN: The Department of Roads (DoR) has commenced the task of opening an alternative route for the Muglin-Narayangadh road section, with a budget of Rs 26.93 million allocated for the current fiscal year.

The new alternative route, connecting Muglin to Gaindakot via Gaighat, Dasdhunga, Thimura, and Devpur, is expected to ease traffic flow and offer a safer passage.

The project’s first phase, which covers the road from Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4 (Pulzeep) in Tanahun, is already underway.

The initiative comes in response to long-standing demands from locals for an alternative road. Keshav Chandra Neupane, a resident of Devghat, expressed appreciation for the government’s attention to these demands.

He highlighted the significance of a new road connecting Dasdhunga to Muglin, passing through Gaidakot Municipality-3, Deupur of Devghat Rural Municipality-5, and the Trishuli riverbank in Tanahun.

Devghat Rural Municipality Chair Til Bahadur Thapa emphasized the importance of this project for the region, particularly for boosting religious tourism in Devghat, which is not currently connected by the national highway.

Thapa also assured that the local government would take an active role in advancing the road’s construction.
