KATHMANDU: Elected representatives from Achham have called on Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to investigate the deaths of two teenage girls whose bodies were discovered in a forest in Dhakari Rural Municipality-8 on Saturday evening.

The victims, 15-year-old Saraswati Khadka and 14-year-old Ishara Khadka, were found in the Sunghar Community Forest, Ward No. 1 of Dhakari Rural Municipality.

In response to the incident, former minister and Achham-1 MP Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Achham-2 MP Pushpa Bahadur Shah, and Panchadeval Binayak Municipality Mayor Ambika Chalaune met with Minister Lekhak to demand a thorough and fair investigation into the deaths.

Chalaune stated that Minister Lekhak assured them that the incident was being taken seriously, and the police had initiated a detailed inquiry.

In addition to the case of the two girls, the Achham representatives also raised concerns over the deaths of five people from Achham in a train accident in India.

They urged the government to provide relief to the families of the victims and called for insurance coverage for Nepali workers traveling to India for employment. The representatives emphasized the need for greater attention to the safety of Nepali workers abroad.
